The goal of this manual is to assist physicians in conducting prevention of HIV-infection among injection drug users; to teach them about the basics of outreach work; to learn communication and partnerships skills to work with active and sober injection drug users with little motivation to participate in traditional medical-prevention programs. The manual is based on many years of experience of working with injection drug users within the frames of prevention programs “Harm Reduction”, successfully implemented in many countries of the world and in Russia.
