On Saturday night, December 5, in the town of Perm a horrible tragedy occurred, which by the severity of its aftermath shocked the minds of all countrymen.

The fire broke out at nightclub “Hromaya Loshad” (“The limping horse”), due to criminal carelessness of organizers of festive activities. In that fire 143 people perished, and over 120 people suffered from severe burns of the skin, injuries, traumas, including traumas of airways. The health condition of the majority of those who got injured is extremely severe, close to critical. Among those who perished there are mostly young and full of strength and health young men and women, including family couples, whose death simultaneously orphaned several dozens of children. And this fact fills our hearts with deep mourning and compassion. The Presidium of the Russian Red Cross expresses its sincere condolences to families and close environment of those who perished and makes appeal to the regional branches of the Russian Red Cross for them to start fund raising to meet needs of those who got injured and of those whose relatives perished during that night.
