Goal of the project
Integration of children affected by HIV epidemic into the society. Providing children and households affected by HIV epidemic with access to kindergartens.
Objectives of the project
To support families where children with HIV and of pre-school age live – on the issues of integration children into kindergartens
To ensure that authorities and the personnel of kindergartens do not deprive children with HIV of their right to go to kindergartens on general basis.
To form tolerant attitude among parents of other children towards HIV-positive children who go to kindergarten
Key achievements
Survey was conducted to detect problems that household bringing up children with HIV face.
Trainers were trained (medical workers, teachers, specialists of the Red Cross) to conduct seminars on HIV-infection in kindergartens.
927 staff workers at 74 kindergartens of Irkutsk City were trained at trainings organized by the Red Cross. They improved their level of knowledge on HIV-infection.
18 households where children with HIV and of pre-school age live were provided with assistance and support to integrate children into kindergartens. They were also provided with counseling by psychologist, lawyer, doctor, social worker.
Five different kinds of information materials were published – total of 18,700 copies.
A documentary was shot – film “Gift a child with his childhood” and 3 TV trailers of social advertisement context.
Information materials were distributed in kindergartens of Irkutsk City, at the Department of Education of Irkutsk City and Department of Education of Irkutsk Region – to be used in their daily activities.
